• 07-01-2010: Friday Fest Volunteers Needed!

  The Union Activities Board proudly presents FRIDAY FEST on August 20, 2010, featuring LIFEHOUSE!

  This annual alcohol free event brings in an average of 5000 new and returning students each year, providing a safe, fun alternative to off campus parties. We would love to give you an opportunity to be involved. Your gifts and talents are invaluable! Please join us in welcoming our students to campus with a concert event no one will want to miss!

  NC State Students, Student Organizations, Staff, and Faculty are welcome to volunteer. Space is limited. Volunteers will receive:
  • entry to the event
  • an official Friday Fest 2010 Volunteer T-shirt
  • entry into a drawing to win a fabulous prize!

  Training for volunteers will be provided on Wednesday, August 18 in Witherspoon Student Center, Room 107. During a training session, you will:
  • hear about the behind the scenes logistics of the event
  • learn more about what the volunteers will be doing
  • receive your t-shirt
  • have the opportunity to ask questions.

• 06-10-2010: What's On the Brickyard?

  Planning a big event on the brickyard next Fall? 
  

  The SORC staff would like to remind you that there will be changes to the Brickyard landscape when school starts in the Fall and one of those changes involves the Atrium Renovation.  Since the atrium will be closed throughout the renovation, University Dining has a great plan for alternative dining and seating arrangements.

  An interim food court consisting of Chick-fil-A, wraps, and subs will open in the current seating area. A temporary facility in the Brickyard will provide seating during the construction.  

  While we are all very excited about what's to come with the new Atrium, this temporary facility will impact how student organizations can use the brickyard during the time of the Atrium renovation.  The SORC be able to continue scheduling space on the brickyard,we anticipate that many large events may have to do some strategic planning for the use of the space still available.  However, we believe that with strategic planning, most annual events will still be accomodated.  The staff at the SORC office is available to help you in that planning.

  Monday - August 16, 2010 - RBC Center, 4:30 pm - 6:30 PM, Pre-Convocation Involvement Fair, Limited to 50 student organizations and/or university departments.

  Tuesday - August 17, 2010 - West Campus Amphitheatre, Welcome Back Pack Involvement Fair, 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm Limited to 30 student organizations. We also need student organizations to provide entertainment for this event.

  Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 - Involvement Fair on the Brickyard, 10 am - 3 pm, Limited to 100 student organizations and/or departments

  Registration can be completed through your organization portal, click on Forms, and Fill Out the Organization Involvement Fair Form.

• 01-12-2010: What's In Your Organization Profile?

  Check your status! 

  Your organization profile says a lot about you - or not.  When anyone searches for your student organization on the SORC website, the information they find identifies what your organization offers and lets an individual know how to contact the leader of your student group.  If no information is available one might assume that your organization is no longer active. 

  So have you checked to see what's in your profile. 

  Go to the SORC home page at http://ncsu.orgsync.com and check your status today.  If it is not up to date you can change it! 

  How to update

  In order to update your organization profile and renew your registration you will need to log into your OrgSync portal and complete the Organization Profile Update which is found in the Settings Module.  If your organization has been disabled, please attend one of the listed Student Organization Officer Training Sessions to find out how to reactivate your organization or call the Student Organization Resource Center at 919-515-3323.

  Who looks at Organization Profiles

  • University officials use the information to determine if an organization is eligible for services including room reservations, student appropriations, permit request, and webspace request
  • Prospective members look at the information to find out how to join a student organization
  • The SORC staff uses the information when needing to contact individual student leaders
